What We Believe

Fayette Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church, with a conservative, and evangelical understanding of Christian doctrine. Our desire is to unconditionally love people, to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, as far as it depends on us, with other believers who may disagree with us. However, we believe that we must hold tenaciously to the teaching of Scripture in all matters of faith and practice.

THE BIBLE: We believe the Bible is the Word of God in its entirety; infallible, verbally inspired, and inerrant in all that it affirms as originally written, and fully authoritative.

THE TRIUNE GOD: We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe this God is the Creator of all things, including man, for His own pleasure and purposes.

JESUS CHRIST: We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and God the Son, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as our substitute and sin-bearer, rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and is coming again. We believe in the imminent, visible and physical return of Jesus Christ according to the Scriptures.

MAN: We believe that our first parents, Adam and Eve, fell into sin through disobedience to God’s will, and that all people are sinners by nature as well as by choice. Apart from the saving grace of God, we are eternally lost and destined for eternal punishment in hell.

SALVATION: We believe that all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by grace through faith are born again into the family of God and from that moment on possess an eternal home in heaven that awaits them.

THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the triune God and regenerates everyone who humbly repents of sin and believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. Every believer, from the moment of regeneration, is baptized by the Spirit into the body of Christ, is indwelt by the Spirit, and is sealed by the Spirit as a guarantee of eternal salvation that cannot be lost. By yielding control of their life to Christ, on a daily basis, the believer is filled with the Spirit and empowered for Christian service.

THE CHURCH: We believe the local church is a body of believers in Jesus Christ, whose purpose it is to exalt God in worship; to edify the saints through biblical instruction, prayer, and fellowship; to evangelize the lost by testifying to the grace of Christ; and to extend the reach of the church through missions. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus left two ordinances to be outwardly observed by the church namely, baptism and the Lord’s Table (Communion).

Steps to peace

God's Plan: Life

The Bible tell us that God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, so that whoever believes in Him would have everlasting life (John 3:16). Jesus  came into this world so that we could not only have life but new, abundant life- a complete life that is full of purpose (John 10:10).

The Problem: Sin

Being at peace with God is not automatic, because by nature we are born separated from Him because of sin. Every one of us has sinned; sin is anything that is contrary to the good, holy and perfect nature of God. We have all lied, cheated, stolen, harbored hate- all these things, and other things like them, make us guilty. Romans 3:23 tells us that "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." No one ever born in all of history is without sin; except Christ! Sin separates us from God. The punishment for sin is eternal separation from God. (Romans 6:23). So, how then, can we be restored back into a right relationship with God?

God's Remedy: God's love and the Cross

The answer is we can't, but Jesus can, and He did! Jesus took our place, as a perfect sacrifice to atone (pay the debt for) our sins. God's love for us bridges the gap that separates us from Him. Romans 5:8 says that while we were still sinners God demonstrated His great love for us by sending His son, Jesus, to earth to die on the cross so that we could be set free from the bondage of sin and reunited with Him. It is a free gift, called grace. We are given this gift because He loves us. We dont deserve it, but we can choose to receive it through faith in Christ. Jesus tells us "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me." John 14:6.

Jesus died, was buried and He rose again on the third day. ! Corinthians 15:3-4. Just as death was not the end for Jesus, it is also not the end for those who believe on His name.

Our Response:

We cannot earn salvation, we are saved by Gods grace when we have faith in His Son Jesus Christ. All you have to do is recognize that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior, that Christ died for your sins and ask Him to forgive you. Then turn from your sins (this is called repentance) and live a new life. God cares about your heart, He wants to see you live in the fullness of His joy.

If you would like to do this now below is a prayer you can pray:

Dear God,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus is Your Son. I believe He died for my sins and that you raised Him back to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do Your will. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.

If you prayed this prayer today, please reach out to someone and let them know! We would love to walk with you in this new life and encourage you along the way as you learn more about Christ. When you accept Christ into your heart you are welcomed into a new family who loves you!
